How to be a Good Marketing Manager?
“You have to ask yourself, what are the negative aspects of my product? What are the weaknesses in my marketing campaign that I haven’t been able to remove? On what account does my rival is better than me? ”
To put it plan and simple, a good marketing manager is the one who has a lot of insight into the prevailing market conditions. If you are a marketing manager and are about to invest countless bucks on your imminent marketing campaign, you ought to have a good appraisal of all the other players in the field.
It is necessary because a very high element of uncertainty in this field requires that every negative thing must be visualized you beforehand. Yes! You have to look at the negative side of things very closely.
You have to ask yourself, what are the negative aspects of my product? What are the weaknesses in my marketing campaign that I haven’t been able to remove? On what account does my rival is better than me? All these questions along with a positive attitude is what is needed for being a successful marketing manager.
Some people call it a negative approach and opine that it is not much helpful for a manager. But the fact is that a good manager always should know how not to be bogged down by the negativities. Rather, he should be such an epitome of positivism that despite being surrounded by negativities he is able to produce ‘Best out of Waste’.
This ‘Best out of Waste’ is only a worst-case scenario and managers seldom have to face such situations. It is because there is seldom a product that falls under the above-mentioned scenario.
A good manager never forgets that his competitors also are capable and are trained to think on similar lines. In other words, a good marketing manager never gets overconfident and sees to it that the element of uncertainty and improbability is taken care of despite the best plans at hand.
Some managers even go to the extent of obtaining information about their competitors through unfair or foul means. Though this is not a healthy trait, the reality is that almost every person in the line practices it.
So, a good marketing manager has to be cautious about this also and has to recognize he fact that at least some portion of his strategy is known to his competitors also. This understanding enables a manager to have a couple of other strategies ready in case of any unforeseen eventuality.
