Get ready for the big day! The 11th America’s Children’s Holiday Parade will once again kick off the holidays in Oakland, followed by the Lighted Yacht Parade. The Children’s Holiday Parade will take place on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 2pm starting at Broadway and 11th Street. The Lighted Yacht Parade will start at 5:30pm at the Oakland Yacht Club.
Join over 100,000 spectators for the annual Children’s Holiday Parade featuring your children’s favorite characters appearing as giant helium balloons or live characters waving from cars, or dancing and singing on colorful floats as they parade through downtown Oakland. The enthusiasm from the crowd provides a heartfelt warm-up for the arrival of Santa Claus for the parade’s grand finale.
Presenting Curious George, Bugs Bunny, Snoopy, and Bernstein Bears, and joined by marching bands from around the city, the Children’s Holiday Parade is sure to be one that you and your family will remember forever.

Later in the evening, follow Santa Claus over to the Lighted Yacht Parade. This Oakland holiday parade floats down the Oakland/Alameda estuary bringing cheer to everyone. If the city lights impress you during the holiday, you’ll surely be astonished by this parade.
Featuring boats from around the Bay Area decorated by their owners, the Lighted Yacht Parade is one of the most unique Oakland holiday traditions. At the end of the parade, the boats are judged for first, second, and third place prizes in three different categories and are given out along with an overall grand prize.
