SilverDoor Releases Guidance for Business Travel During The Olympics
“SilverDoor, Europe’s leading serviced apartment agency says there are still plenty of options if you need to book business accommodation during the Olympics period.
”
Serviced apartments are still available across the capital but bookers must be prepared to accept slightly higher rates. Serena Dines, Principal Account Manager at SilverDoor, says: “There is lots of availability for longer stays as long as you are willing to pay nightly rates of £190+VAT for a one bedroom apartment or £280+VAT for a two bedroom apartment. Shorter stays are only available at a premium.” If you need to travel to London on business during the Olympics, SilverDoor’s advice is as follows:
• Only book if you have firm plans. Serena says that “lots of buildings are only offering apartments on a non-cancellable basis”.
• Transport will be affected across the city, so plan routes in detail before booking accommodation. A serviced accommodation expert such as SilverDoor will be able to advise you on the easiest commutes to and from the office during the Olympics.
• Keep alternative locations in mind when looking for
Olympics accommodation. Areas slightly outside London such as Guildford, Reading and St Albans provide good value apartments in a more peaceful environment. However, some routes into the capital will be busier than usual as sportsmen and staff head to other Olympics venues across the country.
From early September, rates should become competitive again and increased provision of apartments should make booking easier. Marcus Angell, SilverDoor’s Managing Director, says: “Thanks to the Games numerous apartment buildings have been built or refurbished, despite the global recession. This wouldn’t have taken place otherwise and at a time when demand for serviced apartments is rapidly growing, it can only benefit travel bookers and agents.”
