It is a decision in advance regarding what to do, when to do, how to do. The future of many a company lies in the proper implementation of this single factor only.Planning is a process that involves thinking before doing. It is concerned with the mental stage of the manager. He thinks before undertaking a work. Planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordination, reporting and budgeting are undertaken by the management.
A manager has to perform various types of functions. His responsibilities are manifold and he is the key man in an organization. His performance directly affects the success of an enterprise. If a manger cannot foresee the events and plan accordingly, he is very unlikely to succeed in his endeavors.
Therefore, the person occupying the position of a manager must possess certain qualities. A manager should have sound knowledge of his trade in addition to bookish knowledge.
A skill is an acquired and learned ability to translate knowledge into performance. It is the competence of a person that allows his performance to be superior. Previously, it was thought that such a skill is an inborn trait only. But modern research has shown that proper education and training can transform a simple individual into an efficient manager
A manager has to achieve organizational objectives through the proper use of available human and material resources. His technical skills, basically involve the use of knowledge, methods and techniques in getting the job done in an effective manner.
Let’s consider an example. In cyber space, the term Collocation refers to a provision that a website owner can use the space provided by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) for his own telecommunication equipments.

But, it has been seen many a time that inefficient management in this area often mars the results tremendously. This happens in midst of highly technical and professional people. Hence, the planning and the managing capabilities are never to be compromised with.
